I Am An Addict, An Animal! - The Bronx

I really like punk music, but there is an awful lot of shit out there. Anyway, The Bronx are one of my favourite non-shit punk bands. They're an American band that have been around for about 7 years now. Well, the important thing is that they deliver punk with a passion that's missing from the majority of modern punk bands. Really, after listening to these guys you can say punk's definitely not dead. So, I've posted 3 MP3's below, one from each of their self-titled albums. Not necessarily my favourite songs off each album, but definitely good introductions to the band. Even if you think you're not that into punk, give them a try, you never know what you might like!

No, I Won't Have Sex 'Cos Of STD's - Micachu

Micachu (in the centre of the picture) is a great new artist from London. Her band Micachu & The Shapes have delivered an interesting debut album "Jewellery". It's definitely not an album that everyone's gonna like. "Golden Phone" is one of the few songs that could have mass appeal. Though you gotta love the fact that she uses a hoover as an instrument! And if you're openminded you might find plenty to like. I personally love the album, I think they're really doing their own thing, and I think come album number two they can tighten up a bit and deliver something brilliant. Definitely check out "Golden Phone" below and if you like what you hear try "Just In Case" which is where the "No, I won't have sex 'cos of STD'S" line is from.

Death Is In His Heart - Telepathe

Well, I definitely had to do a post on these girls. Possibly my favourite album of the year so far is "Dance Mother" by Telepathe. They're 2 girls from Brooklyn, and I hate putting music into categories but the last.fm description is a decent summary: "an experimental noise pop group, who focus on ritualistic percussion and electronics." Admittedly, it might not be an album you love immediately but it's one that really deserves repeated listens. The stand-out tracks for me would be "So Fine", "Devil's Trident", "Michael" and "Trilogy". Apparently "Trilogy" is about luring an unsuspecting boy into the woods for oral sex, which makes me like the song a little more. Dave Sitek of TV On The Radio produced the record, and I think his touch works perfectly. Like "Return To Cookie Mountain" this is a great album to stick on when smoking a few joints. Something about it just sinks in after a few listens... Well, listen & enjoy! :-)

So, I've posted "So Fine", "Michael" and the James Rutledge remix of "Devil's Trident" below. I also love James Rutledge, his remix of "Sister Siam" by The Whip is brilliant and definitely worth checking out too.

Peaches - Cream Of The Shock-Rock-Electro-Cock Crop

Clearly, I'm a Peaches fan. Well, she's been an idol of mine for 7 years now, so I'm obviously damn excited about the new album "I Feel Cream", due to be released on the 4th of May. "Impeach My Bush" is my favourite album by her, self-described as her "hardcore Peaches album", it was just that. I felt she took a strong step forward with it and so I'm hoping the new one will pack the same punch. I've heard 5 tracks so far, and for the most part I'm pleased. Although overall it seems like she's going a bit more mainstream, although working with Soulwax on "Talk To Me" and Simian Mobile Disco on "More" turned out some great results. "Billionaire" is the only song I've heard that I really don't like. I was actually looking forward to hearing her collaboration with Yo Majesty, but I just find the track irritating. Well, only heard 5 so far, so can't wait for the rest. But "More" is probably my favourite so far.

So, enjoy the "More" mp3 posted below:

Bloody Bloody Whiffy Scuzzy!

I love music. 100's and 100's of different artists. And I love introducing people to new music. So, that's what this blog is for. Not to talk shit, but to show some love for talented artists. So, like some STD's in a ship full of sailors, I will spread that love...

So, the band that made me get off my lazy ass and make a blog today are Decibelles. An all-girl indie-punk kinda band from France. Fell in love the second I saw the video for "Bloody Bloody Whiffy Scuzzy". It's a great track that reminds me of "Date With The Night" (the attitude, not the melody.) Now that Karen O and co have shifted directions, I'm happy to find any new artists with a riot grrrl edge! Not much info on them at the moment,

but check out their myspace:
